An outstanding example, the building that sets the tone of the whole town, is Villa Centurione. Its construction dates back to the years immediately after 1560, and bears the signature of the great architect Galeazzo Alessi. Also dating from the same period is the Castle, situated near the sea. There are some remarkable churches, including the Basilica of Santa Margherita, a baroque structure containing paint works by Genoese masters.
