About S.Margherita

An outstanding example, the building that sets the tone of the whole town, is Villa Centurione. Its construction dates back to the years immediately after 1560, and bears the signature of the great architect Galeazzo Alessi.

Also dating from the same period is the Castle, situated near the sea. There are some remarkable churches, including the Basilica of Santa Margherita, a baroque structure containing paint works by Genoese masters.

Santa Margherita Ligure, located in the very heart of the Italian Riviera, 30 km from Genova, in proximity of famous Cinque Terre and adjacent to the splendid bay of Portofino, is an oasis of natural beauty, sun and sea, whose origins date back to the 12th century.

In addition to its natural beauty, the town boasts fine examples of architecture from the baroque period, one of the high points of Liguria’s splendid artistic history

Santa Margherita is surrounded by a shore constellation of beautiful towns, which offer excellent opportunities for excursions of a few hours. They include Paraggi, Portofino, Camogli, San Fruttuoso, Zoagli, Chiavari, Sestri Levante and of course Genova. One full day allows time for a visit to the Cinque Terre, located east of Santa Margherita, towards La Spezia.
